Our current collection displays introduce approaches to colour and form, identity, landscape, portraiture, and alternative perspectives on our recognised histories. Each of the themes is explored through paintings, sculpture, photography, video, installation and works on paper from the city’s collection, complemented by a number of key loans.
You’ll see work by artists including Fay Godwin, Gwen John, Isaac Julien, Haroon Mirza, Grayson Perry, Keith Piper, Camille Pissarro, Bridget Riley and JMW Turner and many more, alongside a vibrant programme of regularly changing exhibitions.
In 2021, the Graves Gallery began a five-year programme of redisplay generously supported by the Ampersand Foundation. Each year, 40% of the displays are rehung, allowing visitors to enjoy even more of the city’s collection.
