By road
Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet is located just off the A621 on Abbeydale Road South, follow the signs to Bakewell from the city centre.

Parking
There is free visitor parking for up to 30 vehicles and 2 accessible parking spaces.

There is reasonably priced parking at Millhouses Park, just a 5-minute walk away.

There is also parking available on the wider sections of Abbeydale Road South.

We politely request that visitors do not park on Sherwood Glen (opposite the Hamlet) as this can result in obstructions for emergency services.

By rail
The nearest station is Dore located 0.5 miles along Abbeydale Road South, S7 2QW.

By bus
Visit https://journeyplanner.travelsouthyorkshire.com for a journey planner and timetables.

Bus links to Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet are: 97/98 Dore/Totley and 218 Sheffield/Bakewell.

Toilets and baby-change facilities are available at Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet

Your neighbourhood café, Joni is open at Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet seven days a week, 9am – 5pm. Don't miss their signature breakfast, brunch, lunch & speciality coffee. Walks-ups are very welcome, but to guarantee your table you can pre-book here 

Food & drink is not permitted in the Hamlet’s historic buildings, but picnics are welcome in our outdoor areas.

Sheffield Museums provides a welcoming and supportive environment for breastfeeding.

Getting Around

  • There are 2 accessible parking bays for blue badge holders available in addition to the onsite car parking.
  • Drop off points are available at the upper car park adjacent to the cafe
  • We welcome Assistance Dogs to Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet.
  • Due to the historic nature of the site, there are many rough and uneven surfaces, and many areas are only accessible by steps.
  • A static tactile map is available to help visitors with visual impairments to find their way around the site. The map is located outside, near the entrance to the Worker’s Cottage.
  • Folding seats are available on request. 

Sounds & Environment

  • A video with sound and subtitles is situated in the All About Abbeydale exhibit
  • As this is a working site there can be noisy machinery including a working waterwheel and blacksmith forges.
  • Ear defenders are available on request. 

Accessible Toilets 

An accessible toilet is located in the toilet block adjacent to the café.

The nearest Changing Places Toilet is located at Abbey Lane Public Toilet Block

We are only able to welcome Assistance Dogs to Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet.

All dogs are welcome at the Hamlet café, Joni, and the seating are directly outside.
